What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is the term applied to a treatment in which micro particles are used to buff away the rough surface layer of skin. This totally painless skin-freshening technique removes dead and damaged superficial skin cells leaving healthier, newer skin in its place. In the process, fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation are removed.

How does Microdermabrasion work?

Over time, everyone's skin takes a beating from the sun, aging, and a host of environmental factors. To remove the damage left behind by these factors, a device similar to a fine sandblaster sprays tiny crystals across the surface of the skin. With proper equipment, a combination of gentle abrasion and suction work to remove unwanted superficial skin cells.

How many treatments will I need?

As with most other skin rejuvenation treatments, the number of sessions you will needl depends on the amount of damage you have, your skin type and condition and, and the results you wish to achieve.

Microdermabrasion may be combined other procedures for a synergistically enhanced result. Microdermabrasions are commonly combined with a mild chemical peel or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to achieve the desired look for your skin.

How do I know if I will benefit from Microdermabrasion?

Not everyone can benefit from a microdermabrasion. If you are prone to broken capilleries, or thin skin this procedure may not be right for you, you should always consult a physician prior to any treatment.
