What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe active facial wrinkles in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment that is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

What causes wrinkle?

Some wrinkles naturally occur due to loss of skin volume as we age. Other wrinkles are the result of the muscle movement under your skin. When your facial muscles contract they causing a pleating of the overlying skin. It is these "dynamic" wrinkles that can be eliminated with the use of Botox treatments.For women, whose faces tend to be more animated than men's, and whose skin is typically more delicate, these lines may appear exaggerated and more permanent. .

How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?

Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox Cosmetic) is a protein complex that blocks the release of a chemical called acetylcholine by which nerve cells initiate muscle contraction. By selectively interfering with the underlying muscles' ability to contract, frown lines and other active wrinkles are smoothed out and, in most cases, are nearly invisible in a week.

What is the treatment like?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure. A DaVinci Skin Care physician makes a few tiny injections into the muscles that cause your moderate to severe wrinkles. No anaesthesia is required, and there is no downtime afterward.
